Memories

Memories -
This layout is fairly easy to make. The supplies you need are two 12x12 papers, some Prima lace (or off brand), some flowers that match you color scheme, two die cut vines, embroidery thread, a scrap of white cardstock, a rub on (or stamp you like for the corner) and a journal tag.

First step, I took the plain tan background paper and sprayed the paper with walnut ink. Secondly, I took the cream antiqued paper and cut 1/2 inch off two sides. Ran all four sides in the Zutter distressing machine, then inked them with brown ink. Then I wet the paper and tore a slit in the paper, and let it dry. Once dry, I poked holes in the paper and sewed them with black embroidery floss, tying a bow at the top. Thirdly, at the top left, I used a rub on instead of a stamp (just so I can use up supplies that I have been storing).

When arranging the items on the page, I always place them first and move them around. Once I like where they are, I pick up each item and glue them down. This gives me the freedom to move the components around until I am completely satisfied with their placement.

For this layout, I like the stark whiteness of the die cut vines and photo mat. It brings a cleanness to the layout.

Monday Blues

Good Day All!!!!
I hope everyone had a lovely and joyous weekend. I didn't really get time to blog or scrapbook. I ended up spending Saturday working, then running off to the casino, at the spur of the moment. No I didn't take my camera (no pictures allowed), but we did have a ton of fun, and it was nice to escape parenthood for a while. I do have a couple pages that I want to post and show you what I have been up too. Also the sweetly handsome layout was posted on scrapbook.com and voted favorite, and I also posted it on the Dusty Attic site, since I used Dusty Attic chipboard and I have received tons of complements.
What pages have you all crafted? I would love to see pictures. Also if you want to copy a page, and need step by step directions, please comment and I will post them for you.
I hope you all have a great Monday!!!!
Much love....

Sweetly Handsome

Sweetly Handsome Layout -

This is a layout with my wonderful son posing for me.
He is a hard one to take pictures of. It's nearly impossible, let me tell you, unless of course he is asking. If you read my previous post, with the I'm not Smiling layout, then you have heard me say this before.

I used Dusty Attic chipboard, Birds on a Branch #2,
underneath the photo. I also made the blue flower
with paper and glitter mist.

I used an Around the Page edge punch by Martha Stewart. The Making Memories Slice Machine to make the decorative circle and the banner across it. The brown rose bud trim is from the CKC last year, the white trim is Prima. The metal file tag is an embellishment that I've had way too long and need to use up, so I can buy new stuff. :)

All the papers were from DCWV Linen Closet paper pack, I bought it at JoAnn's some time ago and loved the papers, but have only used them to accent some other layouts. I really wanted to try to use a couple of them in this layout. I was able to use six different papers out of the pack!!! 6! Without it over powering the layout.

Love it! <3

Happy Easter all!!!

Bunny Butt Cake -
I made this for our Easter celebration at Gram's house. This was off bettycrocker.com. I found it to be pretty easy. I am not a great cake designer, I am lucky I can make a cake, when it come to frosting it, that is where things tend to go bad. lol Anyway, this cake is three cupcakes and then the rest of the batter is baked in an oven safe bowl. Coconut make the fur and the grass. In the original they made carrots out of fruit roll ups, but as you can see my plate doesn't have much room left over. I used toothpicks to keep the tail and feet in place. And I used cardstock (my scrapbook supply - see I did work that in) for the ears. Add crushed oreos for dirt and jelly beans, and you have yourself a cake. Of course mine is no wheres near as good looking as bettycrocker.com but it's not bad for me.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter. Much love......

I'm Not Going to Smile....

I'm Not Going to Smile Layout -
This is a new Recollections paper pack from Michael's. I fell in love with the color palette and all the papers are very male friendly.
This is a photo of my son Brandon. He does not like his picture taken at all, unless, of course, he asks! And he doesn't like to smile either!
My husband provided the metal star. We had picked it up at a hobby store a long time ago, and I saw them sitting on his art desk (I think he was about to use them). To be honest I only "borrowed" one, so he has another one he can use. The metal star came with a loop at the top so that it could be strung on something or hung, I didn't like that for this layout so I cut the loop off. Then wrapped the star with a little twine.
The papers were all distressed with my Zutter paper distressing machine.
The two paper stars, two piece of paper cut like ribbon, the layered scalloped circle and the triangle pennants were all cut with the Making Memories Slice Die Cutting machine. I, then, glue dotted them to a piece of twine that I had thread through two buttons, so that it looked like a banner. The little flag I hand cut and then used a star rub on, to continue with the star theme.
The buttons all came out of a bag that I got at hobby lobby a while ago and they just happened to match perfectly.

Do I Smell SPRING???

Hi friends.

This weather is amazing... if you live in  Upstate New York, you know what I am talking about.

I hope you all are doing well. I know it's been a little while since I last posted and for that I do apologize. I plan on getting back on the proverbial horse, so to speak, soon. I have so much to share and even some new techniques to share with you.

Easter is coming quickly. It's almost time to put on the bunny suit, hide the Easter baskets, and hunt for the eggs.

Also I am thinking about running a card or scrapbook class, once every two months, if you might be interested please comment on this blog post. Thank you.
